Wir haben unseren Tauchurlaub auf Fuvahmulah über die Tauchbasis gebucht, heißt: Tauchen, Unterkunft und den Transport von Male zur Insel. Wünsche die offen blieben? Fallen uns keine ein, für Rückfragen hat uns immer jemand schnellst möglich und hilfreich geantwortet. Pick up vom Flughafen zur Tauchbasis, einchecken alles nötige fürs Tauchen klären und dann ging es am nächsten Tag auch schon los. Wir wollten unsere Sachen alleine aufbauen, so sind wir es gewöhnt, aber auch hier wäre es kein Problem gewesen, diesen Service vom Personal zu bekommen. Vor dem Tauchen gab es ein ausführliches Briefing, perfekt. An eine kleine Versorgung an Bord mit Handtüchern, Obst, Wasser, Kaffee und Tee um sich etwas zu stärken wurde auch gedacht. Nach den Tauchgängen pick up zu Unterkunft wenn man wollte oder doch mit der Crew essen am Hafen. Wir wollten natürlich zu den Tigerhaien und auch hier lief alles gut, eine kleine Tauchgruppe von 3-6 Personen , etliche Guides die uns buchstäblich den Rücken freigehalten haben, damit wir uns ganz entspannt an den Haien satt sehen konnten. Ja es wird gefüttert und ja man sitzt/ liegt aufgereiht vor der Futterstelle, aber jeder hat sich auch bewusst zu sein, mit welchen Tieren man es dort unten zu tun bekommt und sich im Voraus auch schlau zu machen wie man mit ihnen umgeht! Wir fühlten uns zu jeder Zeit sicher aufgehoben und kompetent betreut. Wenn wir mal wieder in der Gegend sind, planen wir ein Wiedersehen. In diesem Sinne immer etwas Luft im Tank! “Exceptional Diving with Liquid Shark Divers (LSD) in Fuvahmulah If you want to go diving on Fuvahmulah, you have plenty of options, but none of the existing dive centers come even close to Liquid Shark Divers (LSD)! Before my trip, I did extensive research, and LSD already stood out to me because of their magnificent website. Other dive centers either didn’t respond to my emails at all or took over a week to reply, often ignoring most of my questions. In contrast, I received a prompt and detailed response from LSD, and all my concerns were cleared up immediately without me having to ask multiple times. It was very important to me that this trip would be an unforgettable experience where I could feel—and actually be—safe in the water with large sharks. I cannot stand mass tourism, overcrowded boats, and overwhelmed divers who only care about the best photo and breathe their tanks empty in 20 minutes. That kind of environment ruins the magic this dream island has to offer. During my two weeks on Fuvahmulah, I met plenty of divers who were disappointed with their dives, and it didn’t surprise me at all—they clearly didn’t go with Liquid Shark Divers. Diving is done in small groups to ensure you actually get to see the highly timid thresher shark. She joins almost all dives, giving you the chance to purchase professional footage of your underwater experiences. Her passion for large marine life is palpable and absolutely infectious! With her experience and sharp eye, she spots every shark, manta, or marlin in the blue water instantly to share it with the divers. Ibbeyz, the baseleader, is a diving expert and an impressive "bubble ring maker." Despite his lean physique, he powers through any current. You can feel his immense experience as a professional instructor, making you feel completely safe in the water, even when surrounded by large tiger sharks. He always guided us in the right direction so that we encountered amazing creatures on every single dive. Maaz, whom I call Rasge Maaz (Rasge = King). With his warm nature and sunny grin, he cheers up even the sleepiest guest. A true "ocean whisperer," he finds even the smallest creatures and presents them with great enthusiasm. Surrounded by tiger sharks, he always had my back and sensitively redirected the large animals whenever they got too close. “Part 2 of the review from AdN; Anoos, a "fish on two legs" and possibly the most experienced diver in the LSD family. With his calm, relaxed, and warm aura, he has absolute control both above and below the surface, conveying a sense of total security. He has two small (plastic) hammerheads hanging from his gear, so I could proudly tell my friends back home that I "encountered" hammerheads, even though it wasn't hammerhead season during my trip 🤫🫣. Over his career, he has found an impressive number of shark teeth in the waters of Fuvahmulah, and I was lucky enough to buy a few from him as souvenirs. (Avoid buying teeth in local souvenir shops; they are not from the island and are not "harvested" sustainably!) Hussy, the expert on the boat, the "eagle eye" above water, and a musical artist. As the captain’s right hand, he left a very professional impression on me. His eyesight is incredible—he spotted every SMB, no matter how far away or against the sun. He is also musically gifted and handles the music on the boat. He even created a music track about my experiences with LSD, which touched me deeply! Samiul, the newest team member. “Soo after 30 years of diving, I decided it was time to finally do my Divemaster course, and learn new skills or simply try to remember the old ones 😅 choosing Liquid Shark Divers in Fuvahmulah was one of the best decisions I’ve made in my diving journey. I spent a full month diving with them, and it was easily one of the best dive experiences I’ve had anywhere in the world. They specialise in hosting smaller, high quality expeditions for both scuba divers and freedivers, which makes a huge difference both underwater and on the surface. Their attention to detail, safety standards, and overall organisation are outstanding. Shark diving is conducted in a very calm, controlled, and minimally invasive way. You always feel safe, yet you barely notice the safety divers because everything flows so naturally. Sina, the owner, is incredibly down to earth and genuinely invested in helping you reach your goals during your trip, whether you are diving on scuba or freediving. She is an amazing storyteller and photographer and makes sure you leave with stunning underwater images and unforgettable memories. The dive guides and safety divers Anoos, Mazza, and Blue are fantastic. Yes - but with a few important notes.
Our tiger shark dive itself is not very deep (just 6-8m), and our team makes sure it's accessible and safe.
However, most of our other dive sites around Fuvahmulah are very deep drop-offs, and sometimes strong currents run through them. Because of this, we recommend being at least Advanced Open Water certified.
In short: the tiger dive is manageable; the rest of the island's diving is world-class, wild, and deep. Come prepared, and you'll enjoy it so much more.

We're not fans of hand-feeding or baiting animals in general. However, Fuvahmulah is a special case. Fishermen here have been dumping their fish waste at the harbor entrance for centuries. That's exactly where today's tiger shark dive site is. The sharks have been eating leftovers on this schedule for decades - long before tourism started.
Our practice reflects this history:
We do not hand-feed.
We do not use marlin heads (too oily, makes sharks overexcited) - instead we use tuna heads.
We place the heads under a pile of rocks, not in a cage.
We follow a strict procedure for how it's done to avoid chaos.
This system lets us observe and educate safely while respecting the sharks and their established patterns. When you're here, you'll see for yourself why it's different.
Tiger sharks are here all year round, and conditions are generally excellent year-round.
But Fuvahmulah is more than tiger sharks:
Thresher sharks – here all year, but mostly deep. They start coming shallower around August–September, and during high season (February–April) they're very common to encounter on our dives as well.
Oceanic mantas & whale sharks – peak visibility and highest chance between February–April.
Hammerheads – usually the best bet in October–November.
