About This Site

Bondo Fanno Dive Site

Bondo Fanno sits on the east coast adjacent to the Tiger Harbour area, forming part of the broader reef system where the resident tiger shark population patrols. This coral-rich ridge has constant blue-water traffic — tiger sharks cruise past from the deep while the reef itself fills every crevice with life.

The site's proximity to Tiger Harbour means tiger shark sightings are common even though this isn't the dedicated tiger dive. Animals from the 300+ resident population range along the entire eastern reef, and Bondo Fanno sits directly on their patrol route. These are opportunistic encounters — less predictable than Tiger Harbour but no less exciting.

The ridge structure concentrates current and nutrients, supporting dense coral growth and a healthy food chain from reef fish to apex predators. It's a well-rounded dive that delivers both reef quality and pelagic encounters.

Best Conditions

Year-round — tiger sharks patrol the east coast daily. Best visibility December–April. East-coast exposure means calm conditions during dry season.

What You'll See

Marine Life at Bondo Fanno

Tiger Sharks

Part of the Tiger Harbour resident population. Individuals cruise past the ridge on their wider patrol circuit. Sightings are common but timing is unpredictable.

Healthy Corals

Dense hard coral cover along the ridge crest. Table corals, staghorn formations, and massive coral heads create structural complexity.

Pelagics

Trevally, barracuda, and reef sharks pass the ridge regularly. The current concentration makes this a feeding highway.

Diver Tips

How to Dive Bondo Fanno

A chance to encounter tiger sharks in a natural patrol setting rather than the structured Tiger Harbour format. Combined with excellent coral cover and constant pelagic traffic, Bondo Fanno shows what the broader Fuvahmulah reef ecosystem looks like when apex predators move freely through it.

Drift along the ridge and scan the blue water for tiger sharks — they approach from the deep side
The ridge crest at 12–18m has the healthiest coral and most fish activity
Tiger shark encounters here are surprise encounters — stay calm and enjoy them. They pass through rather than circling like at Tiger Harbour
The coral density rewards slow exploration between pelagic scanning
Safety & Conditions

Before You Dive

Advanced Open Water required
Tiger shark encounters may happen without warning — follow the same calm, stationary behaviour as at Tiger Harbour
Current can push you off the ridge — maintain contact with the reef structure
