Kedevari Dive Site
Kedevari, located at the Thoondu corner on Fuvahmulah's north side, sits below the island's iconic pebble beach. The underwater extension of this geological feature creates a unique dive site where the beach's pebble substrate transitions into reef, forming cleaning stations that thresher sharks visit at dawn.
This is one of the primary thresher shark sites on the island, alongside Havihtha Fanno (One Palm). The sloping reef with its cleaning station rocks at 15–30m provides the perfect environment for Pelagic Thresher Sharks to ascend from the deep for their morning cleaning ritual.
The site is also historically significant — Thoondu beach is one of Fuvahmulah's most recognisable landmarks, and the dive site directly below it captures the island's unique geology where terrestrial and marine environments converge.
Best Conditions
Year-round for thresher sharks at dawn. Best visibility December–April. The north coast is more sheltered during southwest monsoon (May–Oct) making this a reliable site even in monsoon season.

Marine Life at Kedevari
Thresher Sharks
Pelagic Thresher Sharks (Alopias pelagicus) visit cleaning stations at dawn. Their distinctive tail (50% of body length) and large eyes make them unmistakable. Extremely shy — any sudden movement ends the encounter.
Triggerfish
Titan and yellowmargin triggerfish are common on the reef slope. Territorial during nesting season (check with guide).
Pelagics
The exposed northern position attracts passing barracuda, trevally, and occasional reef sharks cruising between sites.
How to Dive Kedevari
