About This Site

Medhe Fanno Dive Site

Medhe Fanno occupies the north reef corridor between Neregando and Genmiskiy Fanno, mirroring the rich topography of its neighbours with large coral gardens and pelagic fly-bys. The site benefits from its position between two active channels, catching marine life traffic moving between the northeast and northwest coasts.

The coral gardens here are some of the most extensive on the north coast — wide fields of hard coral that support a dense reef fish population. The gardens transition to a steeper wall where pelagic encounters happen, creating a two-part dive that covers both reef and open-water experiences.

Medhe Fanno is often dived as part of a north-coast rotation with Neregando and Genmiskiy Fanno, allowing divers to experience the different characters of adjacent sites across multiple dives.

Best Conditions

Year-round — north coast access in most conditions. Best visibility and coral colour during dry season.

Diver Tips

How to Dive Medhe Fanno

The north coast's best coral garden dive. The extensive hard coral fields create a complete reef ecosystem rarely seen at Fuvahmulah's more famous pelagic sites. A good balance of reef beauty and open-water potential.

Start in the coral gardens for the reef experience, then transition to the wall for pelagic scanning
The garden-to-wall transition zone is the most productive — fish concentrate where habitat changes
This site pairs well with Neregando or Genmiskiy Fanno in a multi-dive north coast exploration
The extensive coral cover rewards slow swimming — don't rush through the gardens to reach the wall
Safety & Conditions

Before You Dive

Advanced Open Water required for wall sections
The wall drops steeply beyond the gardens — monitor depth when transitioning
Coral gardens have fragile formations — buoyancy control essential
