About This Site

Rasgefanno Dive Site

Rasgefanno is Fuvahmulah's other Beginner-rated site, located on the southwest shelf. The site is famous for its batfish clouds — large aggregations of longfin batfish that shelter along the reef slope, creating one of the most photogenic scenes on the island.

The gentle slope and beautiful reef structure make this accessible to Open Water divers while still delivering the pelagic promise that defines Fuvahmulah diving. Thresher sharks rise for cleaning along the deeper sections of the slope, and the batfish aggregations attract predators that create dynamic underwater scenes.

Like Ambul, Rasgefanno serves as an excellent acclimatisation dive. But it's worth revisiting even after you've dived the advanced sites — the batfish encounter alone is unique, and the healthy reef provides a different kind of diving pleasure.

Best Conditions

Year-round. Batfish are always present. The southwest shelf is sheltered during northeast monsoon (dry season). Thresher sharks most active during dry season dawn dives.
